鄉福雙語營-緣起

VGM Bilingual Camp

Vision

The Rotten Root

More than 300 years ago, our Taiwanese ancestors sailed through the ferocious black tie from mainland China to Formosa, Taiwan. There were no navigator or any modern marine technology but the simple fisherman boats. In order to get blessed and passing the live-or-die Taiwan Channel, our ancestors carried gods and worshiped them once landed Taiwan.

Therefore, the traditional religion of Taiwanese are influenced by the immigrant history like the immigrant United States. Upon arrived Taiwan, our ancestors carried these spiritual gods and being impacted by such traditional believes. These religions therefore seeded into people’s mind. Moreover, in spiritual aspects, the traditional religious occupy this territory. According to such situation, We, VGM, can foresee the root of Taiwan’s foundation is rotting.

The root of Taiwanese religion needs to be changed. The rotten roots need the treatments . Without the healing treatments, the seed of gospel is unable to grow and and unable to plant over the land. The major start point is from Mission of Village Gospel.

The Door of Gospal, Goodnews

To sow, VGM, Village Gospel Mission, takes the opportunities of needy of English learning to today’s globalization world as a door to spread Gospel. We design the 1 week STM, short term mission, as the English Summer Camp for teenagers to children in Villages in Taiwan, Formosa.

As we all know, these teenager grows faster than what we thought to the individual personality. It takes only couple years to make or turn our teenagers as adults or pursuing the higher education such as college.

The Sequence of the poverty Heritage

In the manner of the eternity of Gospel, we need to understand the bias resources distribution between the metropolitan and the villages or countrysides. Our visions focus on those poverty students in countrysides or villages.

According to the one of the largest of magazine in Taiwan, Commonwealth Magazines (www.cw.com.tw), indicated that there were 14.9 % of the elementary students are grand-parenting, 16.2% are single-parenting, Moreover, 8.7% of them are also from low income families. Students under these categories are behind in class since the elementary till junior high.

Without exception, their next generation will face same situation and as the Sequence of Poverty Heritage.

Reserve the Spiritual Soil

Sometimes, we might not able to improve the English level of these village students in such 5 days camp activities. However, our VGM Bilingual Summer Camp does impact their life and play as the major role. Through our 5 days camps activities, we do affect their earlier age of life experiences, let them not just understand the stories of Jesus but also meet our VGM counselors who care and love them after the camp. All of these camp activities expect to create wonderful memories and unforgettable stories that dwell in their life of journey, same to you !!

Since 2002 VGM has began the Bilingual Summer Camp. We worked with the elementary and junior high schools in the villages or countrysides. We shared Gospel through our vivo English teaching lessons and activities.

In 2008, we have also improved our English teaching materials to today’s Personality Developing and provided more choices to meet each school’s academic criteria.

Bilingual Summer Camp has been develop from two camp events to today’s 20+ camps in the summer-break times, in June and July. There are morning 400 oversee Christian participated in our inter/multi - culture STM, short-term-mission.

Therefore, our Bilingual Summer Camp is able to reach more than 10 thousands children and teenagers and seed God’s words in their hearts through our English lessons and activities. Nevertheless, Our missionaries in each VGM church or Bilingual Summer Camp are able to nutrient such the poverty spiritual soil in the villages or countryside in Taiwan, Formosa.

We need you !!! Join our Bilingual Summer Camp.

Nehemiah 2:17 (NIV)
Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire.
Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace”.

We are looking forward to changing the spiritual atmosphere in Taiwan villages and countrysides.
Let's be part of the turning point of their life.
